If you need help finding the Grand Lift of Rold, check to see if you’ve located the map piece for Capital City, Leyndell. In the outskirts of the nation’s capital, close to the Phantom Tree Site of Grace, outside the city walls. It will be much more apparent to players where they need to go on the map to find the Grand Lift now.
Players should head back to Capital City’s main road once they have the map piece. To return to the main road where the optional Erdtree avatar mini-boss is located or was located from the Avenue Balcony Site of Grace, travel southward.
You’ll reach a massive door if you walk as far east as you can. Players can open this door to access the city’s furthest reaches in the east. After passing through that door, the player must ascend stairs while avoiding the spawning foes. There will be an elevator switch at the top of the steps. Although this isn’t the Grand Lift of Rold, you’ll need it to reach your destination.
The player will find a long bridge at the top of the elevator that connects to another elevator that travels to the Forbidden Lands below.
The only way to get from the Altus Plateau to the Mountaintops of the Giants is through the Forbidden Lands. To reach the Grand Lift of Rold, players must first traverse the Forbidden Lands. Before reaching the Grand Lift, the player must defeat two optional bosses. Two formidable Gargoyles stand guard over the Grand Lift steps: a Night’s Cavalry at the end of the first half of the walk and the Black Blade Kindred.
At the end of this road is the Grand Lift of Rold. Players can operate the lift, continue to the Mountaintops of the Giants, and advance the plot as long as they have Rold’s Medallion, which Melina gives them after they beat Morgott, the Omen King.

How do I get from Capital to the grand lift of Rold in Elden Ring?
Starting from the Avenue Balcony in the heart of Leyndell is the simplest way to reach the Elden Throne, the Queen’s Bedchamber, or any other Sites of Grace. You should proceed ack up the steps you just came down and turn left into what appears to be the main roadway through the center of Leyndell.
There’s a locked door at the end of the path; please enter. It would help if you ascended a lengthy flight of stairs to reach the other side while avoiding or fighting off a large group of harpie foes. Then an elevator is at the very end of the corridor on the left.
Start at the top and cross the bridge to the other side. In this tower, you can turn right and face the Fell Twin boss to gain entry to the Divine Tower, where you can charge Morgott’s Great Rune. Then, head back to where you came until you reach this tower. If all you care about is reaching the Lift of Rold, feel free to descend the elevator and enter the icy, foggy forbidden realms below.
After what must have felt like an eternity in Leyndell, you have finally climbed up onto Torrent, where the visibility is better, and you can follow a clear path forward. To get to the Golden Seed, you must get through the little ninjas and continue straight for about half the path. Then at the end of the route lies the essential boss before you may access the Lift of Rold, the Black Blade Kindred.
